In this article I will go over upgrading your XGallery and XMovie content in Joomla 1.5 or 2.5 to 3.x. The first thing you need to do it backup the tables in your database. For XGallery the table is #__xgallery and for XMovie #__xmovie_movies. Once you have these tables backed up and tucked away, go through the normal process of converting your current Joomla version to Joomla 3.x. This also works if you are just going to Joomla 2.5 from 1.5. Once you have your new Joomla 3 site up and running, use a program like MyPhPAdmin and import your XGallery and XMovie tables into your database. Note that your table prefix may have changed with the new installation so you may need to update these prefixes in your SQL export. Once your tables have been imported, install XGallery/XMovie on your site.

So, for the past month and a half, I've had a lot of time to work on XGallery and XMovie for Joomla 2.5/3.2. It's been 3 weeks since I accepted an offer for a Senior UI Developer but because the company was soon bought out, they went on a hiring freeze. Luckily I wasn't considered a new hire, but someone replacing an employee that left the company. But this caused the paperwork to take longer.

So this weekend I decided to install Joomla 3.2 and take a look at what it looks like. I have to say the backend looks a lot nicer then previous Joomla versions, thanks in part to Bootstrap 2. I was surprised when I tried to install XGallery and it actually installed. However, that was about it. Nothing else, accept categories appeared.

Plot thickens... I will start work at Apple tomorrow. I feel a little cheated because it was only 1 in-person interview and then they call back and offer the job that evening where as with all these other companies, I'm on 2nd and 3rd interviews some in person lasting 4 hours.

So a week and 1/2 later I finished my project on the sales app using AngularJS. This frame work helped to simplify development and cut out a lot of code I would of had to write myself.

XMovie has made it to Beta and I submitted it to the JED team last week. I'm waiting to hear back from them before I can take it out of Beta. I'll need to revisit this component again once I finish updating XGallery. The language files need to be updated as well as some other updates I have in mind.

This has been a pretty busy week. I spent most of the week working on a new Account Login page for my company and in between that updating other changes from the producers. In my opinion this new Account Login page will be a lot easier to manage then the current one. I will give the producers complete control of the html so that they can modify texts and links on their own instead of having me do it. The only thing they won’t have access to is the JavaScript. Now I’m trying to finish up a new Asset form page. I told my boss it would be done in a couple days. But if I decide to work on it today I could probably finish it before I leave for the day. We will see. For now I’m spending my time writing this blog while going through some new House/Trance music for my next World of Warcraft video.

Plug-ins in Joomla can respond to any number of events during a request.

Multiple plug-ins can respond to any one event in their group. The ordering of the plug-ins in Joomla's back end determines the order which registered functions are called. For instance, if both plug-in A and plug-in B respond to onBeforeDisplayContent, A's function registered with onBeforeDisplayContent will be called first.
